A lovely dialogue about taking notes from See How They Run

This past weekend, I watched Saoirse Ronan’s (sure, there were some other actors too) See How They Run and there was one scene that specifically made me giggle a bit as a notes geek.

In the scene, Inspector Stoppard (on left, played by Sam Rockwell) and Constable Stalker (played by Saoirse Ronan) are sitting in a car and Stalker, a young constable is making notes.

Stoppard: Tell me, do you write everything down in that little notebook?
Stalker: Only if it's important, sir.
Stoppard: How do you know if it's important?
Stalker: Oh well - - . I just sort of put everything in as we go and then down the line when we know what's important, we know it's already in the notebook.
Stoppard: So you do write everything down?
Stalker: Yes, everything.

I loved this scene so much. It talked to the notes geek inside me so much. I often keep thinking about my note-taking practices and how I decide what to note down and how.

The movie is a fun whodunnit murder mystery with great cast. I highly recommend checking it out.
